the rant
- finding a job is hard, but it’s not because of what you think
- most people are applying to jobs that they aren’t actually a good fit for
- this is why they often get rejected
- but if you cast a wide enough net, you will get an offer. but this is a terrible thing
- you’ll spend your precious time doing something that fulfills your short-term needs, but not your long-term desires
- what’s worst is that when you’re on the job, especially if it pays you decently, you will be kept so busy and stressed that you will lose the motivation to keep searching for your ikigai
- so when you eventually realize you are not actually interested in the work, you will be back to square 1
the value
- teams tackling important problems can’t move as fast since hiring takes longer and candidates available aren’t as good
- professionals are wasting their time working on the wrong thing, reducing their potential
- only 5% of educational benefits are getting used due to “lack of time”
the research
- job hopping
- education benefits
